Twenty-one years ago, when I first started making luggage, it was also when I started Karajan. At that time, every entrepreneur was full of hope for the manufacturing industry and ran his own business with the greatest enthusiasm. But with the completion of the original accumulation, especially in the past few years, the Chinese market is full of opportunities for gold rush, I have rarely encountered entrepreneurs now, and many people have begun to deviate from the industry and start investing, real estate and so on.
In the 21 years since the founding of the company, someone has told me from time to time, Zhang Xinhua, the investment industry is now making a lot of money. You can invest a little, but my company, which has thousands of people, does not even have an investment department. No one is responsible for this.
I think, if the founders of the company are becoming less and less interested in this industry, going to other sideline businesses and investing, will the company's management have confidence in the industry? Will corporate workers have confidence in the industry? A group of people who have no confidence in the products they produce. Can you expect consumers to pay for this? Therefore, in 21 years, I have only done one thing, which is to make bags, and the enterprise has made packages from several people to thousands of people now!
Every time I go abroad, I am very distressed. I see that Chinese people are like crazy people, snapping up products from various countries, some are going to Europe to buy luxury goods, some are going to Japan to buy daily necessities ... Anyway, Chinese people do n’t trust China. Manufacturing. These years have been talking about "consumption upgrade". Why is it that he refuses to buy Chinese products once consumption is upgraded? Why did so many Chinese manufacturing companies be eliminated as soon as consumption was upgraded? In my opinion, "design + technical barriers + flexible supply chain" is what Chinese manufacturing needs to break through. In the early days of the company's establishment, I was determined to create such a company. In addition to having excellent product quality, we also needed technology and design.
Unlike clothing design, luggage design is a very subdivided profession. There are very few professional settings in domestic colleges and universities. Therefore, many peer companies basically have no luggage designer and no awareness of luggage design. Type, cut flower type. In the early days of Karajan, he had his own designer. At that time, it was rare in the domestic luggage industry, and it could even be said that there were almost none. And since 2008, Karajan began to hold luggage design competitions in national design universities, with the purpose of cultivating talents. So far, 9 sessions have been held. In this way, 90 designers signed the Karajan Design Center before and after, and because of this talent, we develop more than 600 bags annually, including nearly 2000 national patents. These figures are even more proud of the hundreds of millions of sales per year for companies.
There are 2,000 national patents in one year, including flower design patents and utility model invention patents. Design patents are the design barriers I mentioned before. Why do our companies sell hundreds of millions of bags a year? Why does the dealer even fight each other in order to grab a pattern every year? This is the power of design, not that you can try to change and copy the patterns of some foreign brands. Besides, if it is changed and copied, can it not be infringed? Can you guarantee that the other party will not tell you? In recent years, domestic colleagues have not been able to keep up with the infringement? Therefore, insisting on original design and in-depth research on the aesthetics of Chinese consumers is a weapon for the continuous growth of Karajan's various brands. In the past 21 years, we have never been lax on original designs.
Let's talk about utility model invention patents. We have the invention patents for "shoulder bags to reduce the burden", the invention patents for "automatic assembly of universal wheels", the invention patents for "protection structure of infants and children's waist stools" ... and many other invention patents I will not list them one by one here. I can proudly say that we have thoroughly studied the pain points of the consumers of luggage, and we have worked hard to find ways to help consumers solve these pain points. It is because of these studies that these invention patents have been obtained. Only Karajan has won industry and national honors 50 times, and Karajan is now the industry's benchmark in technology.
I am Karajan's earliest luggage designer and a tutor for graduate students at the School of Design of Donghua University. I have been in business for 21 years. Even though there are thousands of people in the company, I have never been out of touch with product design. Because I have always believed in one thing. If a company founder, even if he is slowly disconnected from product design and technology, it will be difficult for his company to do long-term. In some boutique companies in Europe today, you will find that their bosses often come to the site to guide the technology, and even do it themselves, so they will have many hundreds of years of business. In contrast, after all these years, can our industry entrepreneurs still love our industry?
I want to say that without that initial love and awe of the industry, it is difficult to continue to develop the industry! Design upgrade, technology upgrade, and supply chain upgrade will be our inevitable choices. Without these, we can easily be replaced! In recent years, what makes me happy is that more and more people and institutions are aware of this. A lot of fresh blood has joined the upgrading team of the luggage industry: Beijing Institute of Fashion has opened a major in luggage design, and Donghua University has several Professors have offered a course in luggage design, and the thinking of entrepreneurs in luggage industry has also changed. This has made me more and more confident in this industry and made me feel no longer alone.
In the process of completing the upgrade of the luggage industry, a group of people with common ideas need to work hard to complete and maintain an awe of the industry. Scribble a few strokes and encourage each other! For 21 years, I have been on the road, and I will go all the way
